Yesterday while we were babysitting Huds, AKA Hulk, Josh had a moment of reminiscing. "I miss my babyhood."
"Your babyhood?" I asked.
"Yeah. Like I didn't really get to be a baby."
"What?! What are you talking about?" I was just drawing breath to talk his ear off about the amazing 'babyhood' he had when he interrupted and said "Well, I just can't remember it because my brain just got all washed away."
What do you say to that? "Hmmm."
Here are some pics of Josh and Gideon playing in the backyard. We have terrible wind problems here and you can see how it's cleared a whole section of snow off the grass.
Here Josh is telling Gideon to 'get it' and so Gideon digs furiously in the snow looking for who knows what. It's pretty funny to watch.
This is them playing hide and seek.

Hot Chocolate Maker
Josh loves hot chocolate. He asks for it everyday. When I was asked what he would like for the Monsivais Family Christmas I knew he would love a hot chocolate maker. Jake and Jen found him a super cool one where you put in your milk and chocolate and then heat the pot in the microwave. You then take it out, put the lid on and press it down to make it mix and froth the hot chocolate. It's way cool. The lid is NOT suppose to go in the microwave due to the fact that it has metal in it and that it uses batteries.
When I first showed Josh how to use it, I told him not to put the lid in the microwave but I suppose I didn't stress that fact enough. The first day we brought the machine home, we were downstairs when Josh asked if he could make some hot chocolate. I readily agreed and he took off upstairs to make some. It was a few minutes later that he came downstairs without anything in his hands and just sat quietly on the couch. After a while I asked him how his hot chocolate was and he said that it wasn't working. I asked what happened and he said that he had put it in the microwave and it made a popping noise and that when he opened the microwave it smelt burnt. I immediately knew that he had put the lid in the microwave. We ran upstairs and luckily the microwave was ok, albeit a little smelly. The hot choc maker didn't fare quite so well. The batteries had melted and the motor or whatever was shot. Josh felt terrible. He cried and I reassured him that it was ok, and that we all make mistakes. I assumed that was the end of it but I was wrong. Jen was on our side.
When she heard about what happened, she called the store and got them to exchange it for a new one even though I didn't have the receipt and it was completely Josh's fault that it was broken. Only Jen could pull something like that off! Not only did she get a new one but she also included a bubble gum golf club. When I showed Josh the bag, he was so excited. When he asked if he could open the gum up I said "Well, first I want you to..." and I was about to say go brush your teeth when he interrupted and said "I should write a thank you note first huh?"
Yeah, sure, that works too. So he ran and got a paper and pencil and wrote this note. It was pretty cute. I knew that if I waited until I found their address, put it in an envelope and got it to the mailbox, that it would never happen so I'm posting it here.
He originally wrote 'love your grandson Josh.' I pointed out that he was actually their nephew and he smacked himself in the forehead and said "oh, yeah, I knew that." He loved the golf club and used it to hit an empty soda bottle around until the club head fell off and all the gum flew everywhere. Gideon sucked on one piece and Josh was wise enough to throw that one in the garbage but after collecting all the gum and putting it back, he went right back to hitting the soda bottle until the gum once again flew all over the house. Some landed in his room and the office but most of them ending up downstairs. He also used his hot chocolate maker and said out loud "the lid does NOT go in the microwave," multiply times. Thanks Jake and Jen!
