A New Family Member

Josh is excited to announce that we have a new member in our family.  Presenting....Fire!
He came up with the name all by himself.  The owner of the pet store in town did an assembly at Josh's school a while back and gave them all a coupon for a free goldfish.  Turns out they only cost 30 cents!  Rip off!  The food and gravel ended up costing 30 times that much.  Oh well.  Josh was super excited.  He talked to the fish the whole way home, using his baby voice.  He told it that it would be ok and that it was going to its new home and that it would love it.  He 'comforted' it after every bump and twist in the road and commiserated with it as the goldfish looked for a way out of the bag.  Josh said that the fish didn't like the bag at all!  He says he can't wait to feed it tonight and even asked the store owner if he had been feed yet today.  Mike is ok with this whole fish deal, where as I am not so happy about it.  They stink and gross me out.  I just have to keep reminding myself that goldfish don't live that long, right?  Once again, thanks Aunt Kat for the wonderful fish bowl.  I owe you one......seriously.

Hooray!

We went to a couple different stores because ShopKo did NOT have the toy he was looking for. He ended up not buying anything though, and asking to buy MineCraft on my kindle.  Sure, why not.

One of Josh's responsibilities is to make his own lunch now.  I checked his lunch bag the other morning to see how he did and this is what I found.

I had a little talk with him but he trades his stuff away most of the time anyways, that who knows what he really eats.  He's found one boy who will trade his Slim Jim for 2 pieces of candy, which Josh is more than willing to part with.  And here's Hulk trying to figure out what in the world I'm doing with the camera.

Aww.  Isn't he cute?  I have a dog picture book and one of the pages has a picture of a sleeping puppy.  I always cover my mouth and do a pretend yawn.  Hulk usually just stares at me like I'm crazy.  On Thurs though, he put his hand to his mouth and made noise like he was yawning too.  It was too cute!

Today was Josh's 1/2 birthday celebration at school.  He got to eat lunch at the birthday table and have his family come eat with him.  He asked if I could bring McDonalds and I agreed.  Mike wasn't quite as happy as I was about getting McDonalds but he still ate a big mac to show his support.  It was fun to see Josh so excited to have us there with him.  At first I wasn't sure if Mike was going to be able to make it and so I told Josh that it might just be Me and Him.  He got this sad look on his his face and said "But mom, everybody gets to bring their brothers and sisters and I don't have any."  It was the saddest look ever.  Luckily Mike was able to make it and Josh was super happy.  I took my camera so I could take a picture and then totally forgot.  Figures.
