Busy Weekend

About a month ago, some ladies in my ward asked me if I wanted to do a relay race with them down in St. George.  I was very hesitant and really didn't want to do it but since I hate telling people no, I agreed.  After much debate, Mike even agreed to make the trip with me.  We decided to leave Josh at his cousins house, and he was so excited. Friday afternoon we dropped Josh off and then headed out of town.  Mike spent HOURS reading The Count of Monte Cristo, which left me with way too much time to think.  I tried to convince myself that it would be fun, I really did, but it didn't really sink in.  Well, we checked into our hotel, and I was very happy with how clean and nice it was.  Then Mike willingly went shopping with me at the Outlets.  It was a  lot of fun.  I didn't sleep much that night and was wide awake when my alarm went off the next morning.  I had offered to drive and after picking up the other ladies, we headed to the starting line. There were 5 people on our team and we each had to run 2 legs.  My first leg wasn't bad, only 5.21 miles through town and mostly downhillish, although it didn't feel like it.  I didn't break any records with my 9:29 min/mile pace but it was faster than I had been running so I was happy.  My next leg was awful.  It was called The Dirty Climber and it was 4.34 miles of rocky dirt roads and hills.
Yeah, it killed me...an 11:20 min/mile pace.  Yuck. Running on a treadmill with no incline definitely doesn't prepare you for this.  I did it though, so I guess it counts for something.  Mike met me at the finish line, after going golfing and he said that it made him excited for the Ragnar.  I think he's crazy.  We spent the next night at Mike's parent's house and then picked Josh up Sunday afternoon.  It was good to see him, but he didn't quite feel the same way about us.  I asked him if he missed us and he said no.  He later told me that after we dropped him off at Allison's house, he forgot about us right away and didn't even miss us.
Allison told us that Josh had gotten annoyed with her boys fighting and arguing and told them that they should listen to the Scripture Scouts cd about getting along with your brothers.  The next morning Josh was fighting with one of the boys about a toy and the 5 yr old said "maybe YOU should listen to the Scripture Scouts about sharing."  We had a good laugh about that.
